About a week ago I had an incident that I would have allowed to upset my ENTIRE day had it happened 10 or 15 years ago. I'm walking from my appointment to get into my car. Reach for the door to close it after I'm in and notice some dark purplish goop on my thumb. What in the world is that??! Suddenly my eyes are drawn to my chest to see a mess of this goop down the front of my "snow white" looking shirt! Apparently, a bird flying overhead at some point had found the need to relieve himself without thought that it might inconvenience my day for him not to pay attention to where his waste would land. Now I could have spent the rest of my drive home in anger, fueling because I needed to make an unnecessary drive all the way back home before completting the rest of my errands, mad about the gas being wasted...mad at the bird that did this to me. Then I could have allowed my mind...my thoughts to just spiral out of control the rest of the day with irritation. Why? It would not be obvious to me at 1st why I'd had such a day but after I had time to really think about it I would have realized it started with the crap on my shirt.
And often, that is how life is. Life hands us alot of crap. We can let the crap determine what our mental state will be for the day or we can CHOOSE to just adapt and change what needs to be changed like I did with my shirt that was pratically new. We CHOOSE our peace of mind for the day based on how well we can adapt and how well we can accept change and make changes that fit us. Learn how to truly walk in peace day by day, don't just look for peace to find you. The choice is yours.
