Is Your Mind A Runaway Train?

Thoughts become words… words become actions… actions become habits… habits become character… character becomes destiny.  These were the words I heard a minister speak over the radio a few days ago.  Though I’d heard these words in this manner before, somehow this time they seemed to resonate more with me.  There have been a few things I’ve wanted to see come to pass in my life but I failed to recognize that though I’d had “thoughts” regarding these things and those “thoughts” were becoming words…I wasn’t arriving at the results I wanted because those “thoughts” were not conducive to what I was looking for.  See this law works, regardless of the root of your thoughts being negative or positive.  This law of thinking doesn’t have a mind of its own to discern what we really want.  So we have to remain cognizant of our thoughts at all times.  Is it hard to do?  Yes, but it can be done…with practice!   First of all, how do we even become cognizant of the thoughts that are forming?  Well, though many may not realize it or BELIEVE it, we really do need to pay more attention to the things we feed our brain, our thoughts.  If I have certain goals for myself I want to watch what I read, I want to watch the things I allow people to speak into my life, etc.  These sources so easily have the opportunity to formulate my thoughts because I began to meditate on them.  And you know what they say, “whatever is in you is going to come out” sooner or later.   If I want to change the things that I say or the things that I do I need to pay attention to what I listen to (music, TV, movies, PEOPLE, etc.).
Again…THOUGHTS do not just pop into our heads, there is ALWAYS a root.  But until we DO SOMETHING about the ROOT we’ll always have the same result.   We can go to church every Sunday, pray until the sun comes up, fast for 40 days, wish upon a star, chant, WHATEVER…we will never arrive at the destiny WE SEEK until we get a hold to the things that have the potential of forming our THOUGHTS.  It starts there.  So, when will you start cleaning house?
