No food. So, when was the last time you had something to eat? Unless you’ve just awakened, on a fast, or just haven’t had time to eat yet it was in the last 24 hours. But imagine your funds were pretty low; you had some hard choices and couldn’t buy food. What would you do? Or, let’s say because of that electricity loss I mentioned a couple days ago, your food is all ruined. Even worst—imagine there was some great catastrophe where food resources were diminished over time and there were no longer any grocery stores, no farmer’s markets, no convenience stores, no nothing. No doubt things would seem pretty desperate and you don’t even want to think of the ramifications of that manifestation. When was the last time you heard yourself say that there was nothing to eat in your house and yet there really was something there but it just wasn’t what you wanted? Or maybe this—“I’m so hungry”—with “still good” leftovers sitting in your refrigerator? We can act so privileged when it comes to what we will and won’t eat but there are people literally dying to eat what we throw away or just totally disregard because maybe “I just don’t want that today.” Food is a necessity for survival but somehow we’ve come to the point of letting it be about our wants.
We all hope to learn from our own experiences but there are those times when we also glean from others. These lessons offer great opportunities for stimulating our minds or emotions to a higher level: inspiration. Life itself is full of inspiration, whether it's from witnessing the simplicity or complexity in nature or finding valuable lessons in the things we encounter on a daily basis. Ultimately the hope is that inspiration evokes positive change in our lives on a daily basis.

Days of PURPOSEFUL Thankfulness – Day #5
